I really enjoyed the story within the story in this chapter. I read your interview for your upcoming anthology recently and loved learning about your love for horsemanship. It shows in your stories that you have a deep respect for equestrianism and its ancestral lands!

Thank you, Keyon! The great secret (or maybe not such a secret since I open each book with an epigraph) is that each book in the trilogy is thematically structured on one of the three different Scythian creation myths given by Herodotus. And it's true; part of what first drew me to explore Scythian culture was that it combined my love of archaeology/anthropology with horses. Everything else has been a bonus :-)

That is such a thoughtful way to frame the trilogy. It’s evident that you’ve put an unbelievable amount of work into this series. It truly shows, and I’m seriously grateful to have found it. I don’t know much about horsemanship but I love the natural world, so it’s been such a joy to read!

Each one of these characters is so well crafted. They have such distinct personalities. I’m really enjoying this story.

Thank you, that's really good to hear! One of the things I worry most about with my writing is whether my characters are distinct enough. No matter how well I visualize them as unique beings, it can be so difficult to differentiate them on the page...

I’m the same way. Unique character voice is something I’m working on a lot these days. But you’ve got it for these characters. I’ve never read a story from this time period either, so that is unique in and of itself.

You've done an amazing job creating unique character voices in The Crocodilian. I'm kind of envious ;-) All of your characters are so distinct well articulated. They really come to life!
