Breathtaking photos. Thank you for sharing. I lived in Vienna, Austria, for nearly 4 years and visited the Roman ruins both in the city and on the outskirts (Vindobona, etc.). But my photos weren’t nearly as vivid as these. The Roman cult of Mithra (which appears in Conan as well!) has always fascinated to me. It seems to have been something of a barracks and garrison religion among the Late Antique Roman soldiery. I had a chance to visit the Mithraeum under San Clemente in Rome. It’s hard to see something like that (i.e. a holy place buried and overlaid by another that bears some resemblance to its predecessor) and not think of Joseph Campbell.
